SERMON SERIES: LOL DISCIPLESHIP
Sunday Morning Worship Service (November), 10-11 a.m.
On the heels of September and October’s Evangelism in Scripture series, November kicks off a new mini-series titled, Life on Life Discipleship. This is fitting and right because evangelism and discipleship go together! As part of this series, we’ll look at the Scriptures to study the important aspects of New Testament discipleship. This will lead to the eventual formation of LOL groups at Exodus, which is our next step as a church.
SCOTTISH CHRISTIAN HERITAGE
Sunday Mornings (November), 9-9:45 a.m.
Leader: Jason Jordan
Scottish Reformed church history is a most inspiring (but little known - even among Christians) record of God’s handiwork through the ages. For instance:
“For 300 years a school of evangelical Christianity changed Scotland as a nation. Passing on the evangel [Christian Gospel] of the Reformation, and growing stronger in persecution, it turned a people to the Bible, and finally gave many of its best sons and daughters to the ends of the earth. For fidelity, joyful perseverance in hardship, and improbable advance, the record remains a witness to the faith that overcomes the world.”
Elder Jason Jordan (of Scottish descent himself) leads a series in our adult discipleship class on various Scottish revivals throughout history, beginning with the life of John KNox and informed by trusted Banner of Truth author Iain Murray’s, A Scottish Christian Heritage. If you’ve not studied church history, this will be an enjoyable way to start!
CHILDREN’S DISCIPLESHIP: JESUS, WHAT A SAVIOR! (AGES 4-10)
Sunday Mornings (Sept.-May), 9-9:45 a.m.
Leaders: Megan Dunham & Chelsea Klunick
Our combined children’s discipleship class uses the curriculum Jesus, What a Savior! from Truth78.org. The goal of this resource is to help children understand that “they (like us) are helpless sinners, deserving of God’s eternal wrath. Children need to hear this truth so that they (like us) can turn to the perfect and only remedy - the free gift of salvation through Jesus the Savior.
